Important Notice:
As we’re sure you’re already aware, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has meant that it’s now vital to limit social contact and avoid gathering in large numbers. For that reason, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the World Record Attempt for the Longest Line of Coins “A Little Change , A Big Difference”.
With COVID-19 developing in many countries around the world, Guinness World Records is aware that there will be concerns and restrictions around large gatherings of people and with the status of the virus still developing, no one is sure when a large group event will be safe. It is incredibly disappointing for everyone involved, but it was clearly the course we needed to follow from a health and safety perspective especially when the event would have required many volunteers and involved the handling of money.
We hope you can understand the steps we’re taking to help keep our staff, volunteers and community safe.
To date the event has raised $61,405towards the BRICC Wellness Centre to help support cancer patients within the Ballarat and Grampians region. This equates to just under 24km of 5 cent coins. It is an amazing effort considering the 2020 year! This amount of money will go a long way in helping the Wellness Centre to continue its work in supporting cancer patients. The BRICC Wellness Centre is a warm and supportive space for cancer patients and their families to relax, meet others or participate in supportive care programs such as complementary therapies, along with allied health led education sessions. This money will still be used to help support cancer patients during this time as we look for ways to support patients either online or in person as able.
We want to thank everyone who has been involved with the planning process and apologise for not being able to see it come to life. Even though we had to cancel this particular event, we hope to do more in the future when it is safe to do so. And we hope to see you there. In the meantime, thank you for all that you’ve done and please stay safe.

Our aim:
A little change can make a big difference...help us attempt to break the Guinness world record for the longest line of coins. The record is currently held by a community if Austria of 75km in 2011.
Time for Australia, and Ballarat, to take the title!
The cause:
Cancer, as you know, is a life altering disease. It does not discriminate and affects those regardless of age, race, sex and social standing. Supporting people with cancer includes helping to meet their physical, emotional, psychological, informational and practical needs throughout their cancer experience.
All donations then go to help support the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre & the associated Wellness Centre, which helps support cancer patients within the Ballarat and Grampians region. The BRICC Wellness Centre is a warm and supportive space for cancer patients and their families to relax, meet others or participate in supportive care programs such as complementary therapies, along with allied health led education sessions.
How you can help:
We encourage the Ballarat and wider community to save your coins and donate them to break this record.
In early 2020 we will meet at Llanberris Athletic Track and all that have participated will be invited along to start the official attempt. There will be food and drink for sale and other activities while we get busy. The people from the Guinness World Records will be there to make sure we are meeting the guidelines.
Downloads to help you with fundraising:
We encourage you to run your own fundraisers at work, at school, at home, in your street or with your friends.
Some ideas are:
• Casual Clothes Days at school/work
• Morning Teas at work
• Coin jar at school/work
• Corporate donations
• Your own school/work coin line!
These posters will assist you in your fundraising endeavours. Thank You!
